Next, From step 32
Steps to building a Plug and Play VistA CD
These are the steps I used to create the CD image.
- Purchased VistA CD from VA FOIA (I wanted a full FOIA released version) CACHE.DAT is dated 9/25/2004
- Install FOIA VistA on Cache On Windows 2000
(modified steps 1-32 not logged)
- Convert CACHE.DAT from Version 4 to Version 5
- Convert CACHE.DAT from 2k blocks to 8k blocks
- Followed install steps through step 110 of "VistA Install With Cache 5 on Windows" To see the log, see From step 32 on Windows, and From step 97 on Windows
- Tested installation on Windows
- Ran fm2cache to create VistA classes (WARNING, some classes have errors (CLASS TOO BIG). These errors will not occur in Cache 5.1 when it comes out of beta.
If the classes are needed, remove attributes that are not needed. Many fields only pertain to the VA, and are not needed in the commercial world. The easiest way I have found to remove the unwanted fields is to export the problem class as a CDL file, then comment out the unwanted attributes.
- Copied CACHE.DAT to Linux platform (newtower.rwitkop.com)
- Installed VistA on newtower
- Configured VistA/Fileman IO devices for Linux
- Tested configuration
- Create vistapnp.iso (cdrom image)
- Created PlugAndPlay CD
- mount CD on Athlon.rwitkop.com
- execute first script from CD-rom as super user on Athlon
Only super user can create a sub directory in /home
Ownership is reassigned to the username (input parameter to script)
- execute second script from CD-Rom as witkop
- run PlugAndPlay vista fully installed (automagically)
